German club Eintracht Frankfurt remained confident that they will sign Manchester United’s rarely-used midfielder Donny van de Beek in the January transfer window on a loan deal with an option to buy.
Van de Beek aims to move from Manchester as he has failed to break into the first team and get consistent playing time for the last three years.
Van de Beek, 26, agreed on personal terms with the German club and now the conversation is going on between the two clubs, as United will be able to ease their finances by getting the Dutch midfielder off the book for a while, on the other hand, Frankfurt will get the much-needed profile in their squad.
A loan deal is expected to be finalised between the two clubs with an option to buy worth £12.5million, should the German club decide to make Van de Beek a permanent member of their club.
Frankfurt’s sporting director Markus Krosche finally opened up on the ongoing transfer drama where he confirmed that they are confident that Danny will be in Frankfurt in Germany.
"I'm very confident that Donny will be with us for the next six months,” Korsche told Kicker. "We still need quality across the board. We need experience, we are a very young team. Donny can certainly help us with that."
It must be noted that Van Beek emerged as one the finest top talents in the world during Ajax’s fairytale run in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) which saw them going all the way to the semi-final of the tournament where they were eliminated by a last-minute goal from Lucas Moura of Tottenham Hotspur.
Many clubs were in a race to sign the Dutchman but he eventually signed for United for £40million. However, things didn’t go his way as the 26-year-old has only made six starts for the club in the top flight since then, though, and even a reunion with Erik Ten Hag did not manage to increase his overall game-time.
